The prize was donated by Prof. Onken, long-standing chairholder of Technical Chemistry at the faculty of Bio- and Chemical Engineering (BCI), Technical University of Dortmund. Dr. David was awarded for her outstanding achievements in the field of biotechnology. She received her doctorate from INVITE and the chair of Plant and Process Design on the subject of "Viral clearance for continuous biopharmaceutical processes" and works currently at Bayer AG. The award is usually presented in a ceremony on the day of the BCI. Since this year's award ceremony was conducted digitally due to the COVID-19 situation, the prize was presented in advance by fabcing, the alumni and sponsors association of the BCI faculty. Fabcing is responsible for the awarding of the prize.

Der Ulfert-Onken-Preis der Biotechnologie geht an Dr.-Ing. Laura David

Dr.-Ing. Laura David erhält in diesem Jahr den zum dritten Mal vergebenen Ulfert-Onken-Preis der Biotechnologie.

Der Preis wurde gestiftet von Prof. Onken, langjähriger Lehrstuhlinhaber der Technischen Chemie der Fakultät Bio- und Chemieingenieurwesen (BCI), Technische Universität Dortmund, und wird verliehen für besondere Leistungen im Bereich der Biotechnologie. Dr. David hat bei INVITE und dem Lehrstuhl Anlagen- und Prozesstechnik zum Thema “Viral clearance for continuous biopharmaceutical processes” promoviert und arbeitet mittlerweile bei der Bayer AG. Der Preis wird üblicherweise in feierlichem Rahmen am Tag des BCI überreicht. Da dieser coronabedingt in diesem Jahr digital durchgeführt wurde, erfolgte die Überreichung bereits vorab durch den Alumni- und Förderverein der Fakultät BCI, "fabcing", welcher für die Vergabe des Preises verantwortlich zeichnet.
